Our Services
Pioneering the decarbonisation in shipping, providing shipping companies and projects with market leading LH₂ expertise based on a strong, proven track record, and world’s first-projects.
Our Services
Design & Engineering Solutions - We develop and deliver vessel concepts, integrated LH₂ fuel systems, bunkering solutions and operational frameworks for zero-emission shipping.
-
LH2 Shipping is specialised in pioneering zero-emission vessel configurations, from ferries, bulkers and containers to offshore and cruise vessels.
By developing technical integration of deep-cryogenic systems into a functional maritime design, we are ensuring that liquid hydrogen storage and fuel handling are seamlessly unified with the ship’s stability, safety, and operational requirements.
Our engineering services encompass:
Hybrid Propulsion Integration: Optimising the seamless combination of LH₂ fuel cells and batteries for reliable, sustainable power.
Storage and Fuel Systems: Facilitating the technical integration of cryogenic LH₂ storage (e.g., over-deck/ under-deck containment) to maximize cargo space and ensure thermal efficiency.
-
We are contributing to the development of a robust supply chain, requirering efficient, safe and compliant LH₂ refueling capabilities. Our bunkering engineering and operational services include:
Infrastructure Development & Fuel Tower Development: Engineering ship-to-ship and shore-to-ship transfer solutions using vacuum-insulated flexible pipes or loading arms.
Operational Procedures: Establishing standardized, safe bunkering protocols and working in parallell with supply chain providers to secure fuel availability and off-take.
Operational Management: Facilitation and operation of shore-to-ship bunkerings by Our sister Company LH2 Connect AS.
-
Because maritime use of LH₂ involves cryogenic handling, specific safety barriers and hazard identification are critical. Our risk management services include:
Alternative Design Approvals: Conducting formalized safety and risk assessments (such as HAZID and HAZOP studies and workshops) to achieve Approval in Principle (AiP) from class societies.
Hazard Mitigation: Analysing safety distances, gas detection, cryogenic risks, and emergency release systems to ensure onboard and port-side safety.
Class and Flag Approval prcesses.
“Building on Norway’s electric ferry success and lessons from MF Ampere and MF Hydra, we are enabling the next generation of zero-emission shipping.”
— Lars Jacob Engelsen, Executive Chair
Our primary focus is on ship projects helping to cut and eliminate emissions from maritime operations.
